Outpatient Mental Health Program for Adolescents in Temple, Texas

Family-focused care helps you and your child build a healthier future. Mental and behavioral health issues are common in children and adolescents. As a parent, it can be hard to know what’s normal and when to seek professional help. At Canyon Creek Behavioral Health, we understand the stressors that teenagers face. We provide a calm, structured environment where children (ages 10 to 17) can develop coping skills, learn to express their emotions in positive ways and enjoy being kids again.

Treatment for Anxiety, Aggression and Depression in Teens: Why Choose Us?

We’re passionate about helping adolescents and their families get on the path to better mental health. Psychiatrists and therapists use the latest evidence-based therapies with an engaging approach. Our services include:

  • Academic support: Adolescents in our outpatient programs receive four hours of schooling each day from certified teachers. We coordinate the appropriate curriculum with your child’s school district and provide credit recovery so they can keep up.
  • Convenience for parents: We offer no-cost transportation to and from treatment, as well as complimentary lunches each day. These services make it easier for busy parents to get their children the help and support they need.
  • Family-focused treatment: Our staff gives parents the tools to support their child’s mental and emotional growth. We guide families through conflict resolution and help them rebuild relationships in a sensitive, respectful environment.

Levels of Care for Adolescents

Our inpatient and outpatient services mean we can give your child the level of care they need and help them transition between programs as needed. Our services include:

  • Inpatient treatment: Our treatment center for teens offers 24/7 medical care and stabilization for adolescents exhibiting sudden and severe symptoms of a mental health crisis. Learn more about our adolescent inpatient services.
  • Partial hospitalization program (PHP): Adolescents can step down from inpatient care to outpatient PHP when they no longer need around-the-clock care. Our PHP is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP): Our IOP for teens offers more structure and support than traditional outpatient counseling. This program can help ease your child’s transition back to school. Our IOP is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Our Treatments and Services for Adolescents

We make therapy fun and engaging for adolescents, encouraging them to express their thoughts and emotions in authentic, healthy ways. Our therapies include:

  • Evidence-based treatments: We use dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in our outpatient programs. DBT and CBT help teens identify and change thoughts and emotions that contribute to harmful behaviors.
  • Group therapy: Teens develop social skills and benefit from peer support as they share their experiences with others, learn trust and create new bonds.
  • Activity therapy: Recreational outdoor activities such as kickball, football or basketball teach teamwork, sportsmanship and enhance self-esteem.
  • Mindfulness: Therapists encourage teens to connect with nature and teach relaxation techniques to help them cope with stress and live in the present moment.
